The eldest daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, 19-year-old Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands has completed her first official trip to the Dutch Caribbean. Two weeks outside the palace, sun, music and acquaintance with new cultures – this trip was a real breath of air for the girl after forced confinement. After the threats that the crown princess began to receive while living on the campus of the University of Amsterdam, she was forced to return under her parents’ wing again – to the royal palace of Heis-ten-Bos on the outskirts of The Hague, where security was strengthened for the safety of the king’s daughter.

At a press conference organized by the royal family immediately after the trip, Katharina-Amalia first mentioned those events and told how she feels now.

I will be very honest. I’m still very sick. I miss the normal life, the life of a student. On walks through the streets, if possible go to the store. All this for my own good is now banned – I can’t move as freely as before, – the girl shared with reporters

Recall that Katarina-Amalia is the first in the line of succession to the throne of the Netherlands. But the girl, by her own admission, is not ready to take the throne. She admitted this in the book “Amalia”, published by her age, a publication based on the conversations of the publicist and playwright Claudia de Bruij with the princess and the general impressions of the author. Katarina-Amalia said that she wanted to remain just a princess as long as possible.

I even tell my father, “Keep eating healthy and exercising regularly,” the author of the biography quotes the princess.

Moreover, in her first independent statement, the Crown Princess announced her decision to forego the cash allowance for her maintenance. Upon reaching the age of majority, the girl, as a member of the royal family, would receive 1.6 million euros a year. 300,000 euros would have gone to pay for personal staff, the rest – for personal needs. This is the first time in the history of the Netherlands that a member of the royal family refuses funding from the state treasury.
