Galilea Montijo announces her SEPARATION from Fernando Reina after 11 years of marriage

Galilea Montijo has announced that, after 11 years of marriage, she is separated and in the process of divorcing businessman Fernando Reina, with whom she shares her son Mateo.

Like her colleagues in the Hoy program, Andrea Legarreta and Tania Rincón, Montijo took to her Instagram account to publicize that her love affair with Reina has come to an end.

“Out of the respect and affection that has always characterized our relationship, we want to share that after 11 years of marriage, a few weeks ago we decided to separate and have already filed civil lawsuits,” reads the beginning of the statement published this morning of Friday March 10.

Why did Galilea Montijo and her husband split up?

In this same text, the 49-year-old presenter revealed the reasons she made this decision.

“The complicated stage that, like so many couples we experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic, caused disagreements between us,” said Montijo.

He claimed that it was “after conscious thought” and with “deep respect” that he and Reyna decided to file for a “voluntary divorce by mutual agreement.”

“We will always be a family. The affection remains and the love for our son, the engine of our life, unites us. We will go our separate ways as a couple, but we will remain committed to raising our son together, putting his well-being above all else,” she said.

Faced with this situation, the actress asked for respect for her privacy.

“The respect and privacy you can give us in this family process will be deeply appreciated. As these are matters involving non-public figures, there will be no further statements regarding this,” Galilea concluded.

Galilea Montijo cries talking about their separation

During this day’s broadcast of the morning program, Galilea Montijo took the opportunity to emphasize that she will continue to be with Fernando Reina.

“Just to tell you that we’ve always been very proud to say that we’re a very functional dysfunctional family, we’ve always been proud of that, and we’ll continue to be,” he said.

The presenter, who broke down in tears during the morning show, said she will continue to see her ex-partner’s children, Alexis and Claudio, as hers “for life”, as she is even friends with their mother, Paola Caruso.

Similarly, he judged that “they are very well” because their separation was done in a “civilized” way. “He will always be a great friend,” she said.
