The Ministry of Presidential Affairs extends its condolences to the people of the UAE, the Arab and Islamic nation and the world on the passing of His Highness the President of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zeid Al Nahyan, the ministry said.
According to media reports, in 2014 he suffered a stroke, after which he recovered for a long time. He began to appear less frequently in public, so his brother, Prince of the Capital Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed bin Zayed An-Nahyan, became the ruler of the United Arab Emirates.
Al Nahyan took charge of the Emirates in November 2004 after the death of his father, the first president of the Emirates, Zayed Al Nahyan. Forbes estimates the fortune of his family members at $150 billion. The politician is survived by his wife and eight children.
