On March 30, Gostiny Dvor hosted the opening of ART RUSSIA 2023, the largest contemporary art fair in the country. Instead of the usual cocktail, the organizers chose an up-to-date educational program – an art forum along with author’s excursions for influencers. The event was attended by Timati, Aurora, Igor Chapurin, Liza Arzamasova, Igor Garanin, Ekaterina Shpitsa, Vlad Lisovets, Evgenia Linovich, Konstantin and Olga Andrikopoulos, Olimpiada Teterich, Mitya Fomin, Polina Askeri and other guests.
In total, more than 100 significant representatives of the Russian art world take part in ART RUSSIA 2023. Influencers left the digital-art workshop from VK with their own works of art, which they created together with the neural network. In the evening program from the Tavrida art cluster, young artists showed the performance “You Can’t Cancel Us” – this is an artistic statement against the culture of cancellation, which absorbed everything truly great from Russian art – from Tchaikovsky to Kandinsky.
A distinctive feature of ART RUSSIA 2023 from other art fairs is that many artists presented their work independently, outside the space of galleries. Therefore, collectors can communicate with the authors personally and purchase paintings at a more flexible price. For example, Vlad Lisovets and Igor Chapurin planned a second visit to look for something in their collection. The stands of Evgeny Ches, Anastasia Kustova, Anton Kovrigin and Maria Burtova were especially popular, and 9-year-old artist from the children’s section Antonina Vakhtina sold her work to Mitya Fomina. For all guests, ART RUSSIA 2023 will run until April 2.
