Fraudulent page that promises to pay for clothing reviews from foreign retailers asks for users’ personal and banking details

Influencers with thousands of followers are promote a fake website that tricks users into a banking scam. Using the name of the foreign dealer Sheinthe false advertising promises to pay users for reviews of the brand’s clothing.

Among the personalities who have already made ‘publicis’ for the fake site is the former BBB keline, David Matthew, Nadia Pessoa AND emily garcia. They have not yet commented on the false “advertisement”.

The action cites an alleged financial crisis of the retailer after collections that did not perform well. As a strategy to get out of the red and sell more, the company would pay for appraisals of their clothes.

In a press release, Shein said he was not responsible for the campaign released by the influencers and classified the action as fraud. He also claimed to have taken appropriate legal steps regarding the misuse of the brand and asked consumers not to register on the site.

How is the hit?

Influencers are being paid to advertise a new app which would be a purported marketing strategy for brands to bounce back from a “downturn”.

The app, which has “few vacancies” for new users, promises to pay for appraisals of clothes, about 1 US dollar (R$5) a piece.

However, the posted link does not lead to any application. Instead, it leads to a website that tricks users into paying a fee to supposedly enter the program. It also requests the data subject’s personal and bank details.

Even after payment, the user is not approved for the Apparel Appraisal Compensation Program, as it does not exist.

The domains of the websites that appear in the video spread by the influencers they are not from shein: One is Money Looks and the other is Segredo Dinheiro, which also uses the former’s branding.
