Happy birthday, Louis: a new portrait of the prince and other details

The most spontaneous and cheerful child in the royal family of Great Britain, Prince Louis has a birthday today. The boy is five years old. By tradition, his parents were the first to congratulate him – on their official social media account, the Prince and Princess of Wales published a couple of fresh pictures with Louis.

During the year he grew noticeably, but did not lose a drop of his childish enthusiasm. The little prince, dressed in blue shorts and a jacquard sweater, sits in a wheelbarrow full of garden weeds being pushed around by his loving mother, Kate Middleton, grinning at something off camera. These shots were taken last week on the grounds of the family’s home in Windsor. Their author is photographer Millie Pilkington, who has a long relationship with the prince and princess. Millie was the private photographer at their 2011 wedding to Kate and William and is known for her stunning portraits of babies and children.

Prince Louis, who is fourth in line to the British throne, has a busy year ahead. The first big event that will take place in two weeks, on May 6, will be the solemn coronation of his grandfather, King Charles III. Louis, along with his parents, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will take part in the coronation procession from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace. And fans of the royal family are already looking forward to this new appearance of the little prince.

Louis sparked a string of hilarious memes last year after appearing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with his hands as he stood next to his late great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth, with his ears plugged, watching a military parade. He stuck out his tongue, showed his nose to his mother, kissed her on the cheek and pointed to the sky.
