Oscar winner, cult actor Al Pacino, gave a detailed interview to Variety. In a conversation with reporters, he spoke about how he was offered the role of Han Solo in Star Wars. However, the actor then refused.

I was given a script called Star Wars. They offered me a lot of money. But I read the script and didn’t understand what it was about. That’s why I said I couldn’t film. I made a career for Harrison Ford,” the actor joked at the end.

Pacino shared that he recently rewatched The Godfather for the first time in 25 years. The actor told how, after filming, director Francis Ford Coppola asked him to meet him at a restaurant.

I walked in and he said, “You know, I had a lot of faith in you. And you’re letting me down.” I stand and think: “What the hell did I do?” Pacino recalled.

Coppola sent Pacino to Paramount Studios. After watching the footage, the actor understood the problem. It turned out that in the first scenes of the film, the studio did not envision Michael Corleone’s inner journey.

I wanted to come out of nowhere and create some kind of mystery by the end of the movie. I was interested in his transformation, and I thought that I could not show it. After the first day of filming, Diana Keaton and I got drunk. We thought: “That’s it, our career is over,” the actor shared.

Earlier it became known that Johnny Depp will shoot his first film in 25 years – his colleague will be Al Pacino. The plot will be based on the play of the same name by Dennis McIntyre and will tell about the turning point in the career of the Italian expressionist painter Amedeo Modigliani. The action of the film will unfold in Paris in 1916 within 48 hours.
