One of the most famous New Zealand actors, Russell Crowe, will not be among the celebrities attending the coronation of Charles III. The solemn event, which plays a key role in the history of Great Britain, will take place on 6 May. Recently, the Gladiator star was a guest on Dan Anstia’s Triple M Breakfast Brisbane, in which he explained why he would not go to London.

When the host asked if Crowe would attend the coronation, the actor jokingly remarked that he “didn’t get a call”. Russell suggested that it was due to the fact that during the last meeting with the members of the royal family, he did not follow the protocol.

I’m always respectful and always enjoy meeting people, but “your highness” is just not in my nature. I called Prince Harry and Prince William “pals”. I thought the stable boy was about to faint,” Crowe added.

Festive events dedicated to the coronation will last for three days. For important guests, a concert will be held on the territory of Westminster Abbey, where world celebrities Andrea Bocelli and Lionel Richie will perform, as well as Take That, Sir Bryn Terfel, Alexis French and Freya Ridings. One of the headliners will be Katy Perry. The media also reported that Prince Harry will still attend the coronation, but without Meghan Markle.

Earlier, the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Anne, gave an interview to CBS News. In a conversation with reporters, she suggested what kind of king her brother would be. Anna also noted the importance of the monarchy for the UK. In her opinion, the political system brings stability, prosperity and continuity. The princess also opposed the reduction of the monarchy, which Charles III wanted to achieve.
