No alcohol: Tom Holland celebrates a year of sobriety

Tom Holland, 26, has been abstaining from alcohol for a year and four months. He spoke about this in a dialogue with journalists Entertainment Weekly. According to the actor, the story of the character Danny, who suffers from a split personality, which he plays in the new Apple TV + series “A Crowded Room”, made him think about his health. The inner torment of the protagonist prompted Holland to reconsider his attitude to his own mental health.

The study of mental health issues, as well as conversations with psychiatrists about the difficulties of the characters Danny and Billy were something informative for me too, the actor admitted. – I am not alien to the physical aspects of the work associated with the shooting of an action film. But psychologically, it really unsettled me, and it took me a long time to recover and get back to reality.

Holland added that he saw himself in his character.

I saw myself, my life in him. I remember having a little breakdown at home and I thought, “I’ll shave my head. I need to shave my head to get rid of this character.” We were in the middle of filming so I decided not to. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced before.

Holland’s eight-episode show will air on Apple TV+ on June 9.

Note that the actor speaks openly about his mental health. So, last year he retired from social networks for the sake of peace of mind. The Spider-Man star admitted that he was saddened and disturbed by the news about the comment about himself.
