Filipe Ret recovers the R$ 3 million car seized in the blitz and speaks

The rapper claimed he did not act in bad faith and was able to tow the car after paying a fine and paying for towing and storage fees.

Singer Filipe Ret, 38, recovered his car, which was seized in a blitz in Rio de Janeiro early Friday 19. The rapper spoke on social media about the case, saying that although he was approached under the Prohibition, he hadn’t been drinking. The McLaren GT, valued at R$3 million, was taken away because it had no number plates.

“Many articles say ‘Filipe Ret is stopped in the prohibition blitz and his car is impounded’. This suggests that I’ve been drinking, but I haven’t. It was nice, I didn’t drink, I did a breathalyzer and was approved “. I was taken to the police station because I didn’t have a car number plate. I always follow the law. Everything I own is by law. I pay taxes and everything I have, thank God, is absolutely legal,” he said.

The offense for driving without a license plate is considered very serious, according to the Brazilian highway code, with the loss of seven points on the licence. Filipe’s car was seized and he was booked at the 10th DP, in Botafogo, in the South Zone, for the crime of tampering with a vehicle.

The penalty for this crime was increased last April 26, given that previously the driver was fined and released from prison only if he replaced the license plate or removed the tampering. If the crime was proven, the penalty was from 3 to 6 years of imprisonment.

Now, a new law modifies article 311 of the penal code, and the driver who is reported for the crime risks from 4 to 8 years of imprisonment, in addition to the payment of a fine.

Filipe claimed that the license plate had fallen off, but that the rear license plate was on the vehicle. After paying a fine, the vehicle was released for a replacement license plate. He also paid for the towing and storage costs.
