Cate Blanchett was the invited guest of a special party organized as part of the Cannes Film Festival Variety and Golden Globes. The famous actress took off her stilettos and went barefoot in solidarity with the women of Iran. Blanchett then presented the award to Zara Amir Ebrahimi for her outstanding performance in The Holy Spider Killer. Passing the statuette, Kate noted:
This is to strike at all who stand in the way of women’s rights!
In her emotional speech, Ebrahimi drew attention to her home country.
I always thought that being an actress is a paradox: to serve your own emotions and be a flag, a mirror or a light. This award celebrates this paradox.

The party, which was attended by director Todd Haynes, playwright Jeremy O. Harris and director Jean-Stefan Sauveur, took place on Barrier Beach at the Majestic Cannes Hotel. They were joined by the festival’s leading producers, executives and artists, including Thierry Fremaux, Mads Mikkelsen, Christine Vachon, Pauline Chalamet, Boyd Holbrook, Sony Pictures Classics co-president Tom Bernard and many more.
Recall that last year Cate Blanchett played in the film “Tar” Todd Field, which was warmly received by the audience of the Venice Film Festival and subsequently received several nominations for “Oscar”. The actress played the role of the outstanding conductor and composer Lydia Tar, who becomes the first ever female conductor of the Berlin Orchestra. The film also stars Nina Hoss, Naomi Merlan, Mark Strong, Julian Glover, Allan Corduner, Sophie Kauer and Sylvia Fleet. The producers were Field, Alexandra Milchan and Scott Lambert.
