Although Elliott Page is one of the most recognizable LGBT celebrities in Hollywood, his path has not been easy. His romantic relationships with other stars, for example, have been shrouded in secrecy.
That’s how he expresses it in his autobiography, “Pageboy,” which will be released June 6 and of which People magazine has obtained an advance copy.
Elliott Page reveals alleged relationship with Kate Mara
In a note published on June 3, the magazine published some excerpts from the actor’s autobiographical work. One of them describes an alleged romance with fellow actress Kate Mara.
The relationship would have started “immediately” after she announced that she was a lesbian (in 2014) and continued throughout the filming of “X-Men: Days of Future Past”, in which she played Kitty Pryde:
“The first person I fell in love with after my heart was broken was Kate Mara (…) It was a time of exploration but also of heartbreak.”
The alleged romance, moreover, would have occurred while his co-star was in another relationship, with fellow actor Max Minghella.
“I never thought I could fall in love with two people, and now I know I can,” the actress told the “Juno” star.
According to statements collected by the magazine, Minghella “supported Mara in exploring her feelings for Page.”
However, this dynamic did not prove entirely satisfactory for Elliott:
“I think my relationship, or whatever you want to call it with Kate, pretty much sums up a certain dynamic that I’ve been in all the time, which has been falling in love with people who, I think a lot of us do, who aren’t it’s completely available.”
He described his feelings in these relationships as “a kind of safety in it, the ups and downs and the serotonin hit, which then wears off.”
People, who also interviewed the author, reported that Mara has “read the book” and will join him at an event to promote it in Los Angeles. However, she has not publicly commented on this revelation.
The published clip from ‘Pageboy’ doesn’t detail how or why his romance with Kate Mara would have ended, but it’s clear they’re on good terms:
“I think the love and care we have for each other is something very special, regardless of the intimacy I’m writing about.”
Elliott Page would have hidden a relationship with another actress
The above is not the only romance that the actor revealed in his book. In the aforementioned reports, he also mentioned that he had an affair with an actress he worked with in a film, but whose identity he did not want to reveal, and identified himself with the fake name of Ryan.
Despite the fact that on the sets they “secretly held hands”, in public they didn’t even look into each other’s eyes.
They hid what was going on between them so well that “some of Elliott Page’s closest friends” didn’t even know they were in a relationship.
“Yes, I think he loved me. We love each other and it was very real in our bubble, it was really beautiful. I admired her and how she inspired me in so many ways, but feeling hidden for so long was too painful, impossible, and unsustainable in a relationship. He taught me that I won’t do it again.”
According to what he said, he decided to reveal this circumstance to point out that there are still LGBT+ stars in Hollywood who have to hide their love.
