Rebecca Jones’ family won’t be at posthumous tribute, they confirm: reveal the reason

Two months after death of Rebecca Joneswho left this world on March 22 at the age of 65, finally confirmed the expected posthumous tribute to the actress in Mexico.

After the death of the extraordinary artist, who had a career in film, theater and television, it was reported that she had given instructions during her lifetime for a public tribute to be paid to her.

Ana Celia Urquidi, one of her closest friends, said she received an email from the actress last November with the order for the event in question. In the message, Rebecca Jones also made it clear that she did not want a funeral open to the public.

Ana Celia Urquidi gave an interview on the show ‘De primera mano’ this Monday, June 5, where she confirmed the date of the long-awaited tribute to Rebecca Jones.

” We will do it next Saturday, June 10 at the Asfaltini Avlaia theater at 6 pm, all invited,” said the actress.

“One of the things Rebecca asked for is for the press to be there,” he repeated. “He didn’t want a funeral, he didn’t ask for it”.

However, when he died, a funeral was held, according to Mexican media reports. It was private and with only a few people close to the actress, among them her son Maximiliano and ex-husband Alejandro Camacho;

Urquidi mentioned that “Rebecca’s closest friends” are the ones invited to the tribute this coming weekend in Mexico City, but surprisingly revealed that his family will not be attending.

” It won’t be (his family) because, on the one hand, all of Rebecca’s family lives in the United States,” said the artist’s friend, whose father, Gordon Jones, was of American descent.

Ana Celia Urquidi did not specify if Alejandro Camacho and the son he had with the late actress, Maximiliano, will not attend the event.

Days after Jones’ death, her ex-husband surprised in an interview by saying there would be no tribute.

“Rebecca is already resting”he said, according to statements presented by ForoTV last March, where the actor shook his head in denial that there would be a tribute to his wife from 1986 to 2011.

However, Ana Celia Urquidi now confirms the event which she expected would be “very nice” and serve as “a space to say goodbye to her“.

“He asked how he wanted it to be”he said, “we will try to do everything he asked of us.”

Without a tribute to the Fine Arts Theater, Rebecca Jones remains

In the first instance, Rebecca Jones left in writing that she wanted the tribute to take place at the El Galeón Theater, which belongs to the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL).

But according to Urquidi, who made the request to the authorities, he received no response: “The truth It’s something Rebecca doesn’t deserve.“.

The friend of the beloved artist recalled that the El Galeón Theater was the first place where Rebecca Jones worked, which explains her desire to be remembered there after her death.

” I find it horrible because it’s the INBA (sic), I can’t believe that Bellas Artes, that the director of the theaters (of the institution) has left me in the ‘seen'”, accused Urquidi.

In 2018, Jones announced that she had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Neither her family nor those close to her wanted to reveal the cause of death of the actress, but it is speculated that it could be due to this disease.
