MC Marcinho, funk icon, has died at the age of 45

MC Marcinho had multiple organ failure. He had been hospitalized at the Copa D’Or hospital in Rio de Janeiro since June due to heart and kidney failure. The singer suffered cardiac arrest in July and had an artificial heart implanted in an attempt to stabilize his condition.

The artist had been dealing with chronic diseases for about ten years, including diabetes, kidney disease and dilated heart disease.

In a note, the hospital advisory board confirmed the singer’s death and expressed its solidarity with the family. “Copa D’Or Hospital regretfully confirms the death of patient Marcio André Nepomuceno Garcia this Saturday morning, 26, at 9:10 am, due to multiple organ failure. The hospital stands in solidarity with his family and friends for this irreparable loss.”
