The images were recorded in the early hours of September 2, when the artist was hit on Avenida Lúcio Costa, in Barra da Tijuca, in the west of Rio de Janeiro. The actor, who suffered polytrauma and traumatic brain injury, was released from the Copa D’Or hospital on September 29 after almost a month in hospital.
The Civil Police investigation concluded that Diones Coelho da Silva, the driver involved in the collision, was driving less than the speed allowed on the stretch of Avenida Lúcio Costa. He was traveling at an average of 48 km/h (constantly decelerating) when he hit the 34-year-old actor. The permitted speed on the road is 70 km/h.
Bruno De Luca, in turn, was almost sued for failure to assist, however, because Kayky received assistance from someone else, he was absolved of liability.
