The creator of “Hannibal” and “American Gods” is accused of harassment

Writer-producer Bryan Fuller, known for creating such series as “Pushing Daisies,” “Hannibal” and “American Gods,” is at the center of a sexual harassment and assault scandal. The accusations were made by Sam Wineman, responsible for the “Queer For Fear” documentary series, produced under Fuller’s supervision. According to Wineman, Fuller constantly referenced his genitals and created a hostile work environment filled with intimidation and misconduct.

Wineman explained that he was sexually assaulted “several times” by Fuller, who used the pretext of “smacking his back” to press his genitals against his buttocks. Furthermore, the work environment was made worse by Fuller’s “obsession with masturbation”, which was a recurring theme in their interactions.

It also claims that after voicing his concerns to Shudder pay channel vice president Nick Lazo, Wineman was fired from the production of “Queer For Fear” in August 2021. AMC, Shudder’s parent company, said it is making cause for examination of the complaint. .

Defense statement

Bryan Fuller’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, flatly denied the allegations. In a press release, he said: “There is no doubt about it, Sam Wineman will be sued for defamation based on statements that are patently 100% false.”

Freedman also accused Wineman of attempting to extort companies including AMC, Shudder and Steakhaus, as well as his own client, Fuller. According to the lawyer, a lawsuit is pending against Wineman.
