Amber Heard: “I keep every word of my testimony until I die”

Actress Amber Heard again accused Johnny Depp of abuse and assault in her first interview after losing her ex-husband’s defamation suit in Virginia State Justice.

The actor filed a lawsuit over an article published in the Washington Post, describing himself as a “public person who represents domestic violence.” He was also found guilty of defaming his wife, but ultimately emerged financially victorious, with a verdict that earned him $ 8.35 million in damages.

Despite the conviction, the actress refused to retract in the interview, made for the show “Today”, on the American network NBC, and maintained her claim that she would have been a victim of domestic violence.

“He said he never hit you. Is that a lie?” Asked host Savannah Guthrie.

Heard said yes and said that Depp lied in court. “I keep every word of my testimony until the day I die,” she said.

She added that “she has never felt so far from her humanity” as she saw netizens’ reactions to the trial, describing the classroom experience as “surreal and difficult”.

“This was the most humiliating and horrifying thing I’ve ever been through,” Heard said. “I felt less than human.”

Despite this, Heard said he “doesn’t blame the jury” for the outcome of the lawsuit. “I really understand. He’s a beloved character and people feel they know him. He’s a fantastic actor,” added the actress.

However, she considered how she was portrayed on social media as “unfair”. With hashtags led by the US far right, most of the posts about the trial were in support of Depp and contained misogynistic terms.

“I don’t care what other people think of me or what judgments they want to make about what happened in the privacy of my own home, in my marriage, behind closed doors. I don’t assume the average person should know these things. And why? I take it personally, “continued the actress. “But even someone who is sure I deserve all this hatred and cruelty, even someone who thinks I’m lying, can’t look me in the eye and tell me they think there has been fair representation on social media. You can’t tell I think it was. right, “he concluded.

The program is broadcast in three parts, but will be broadcast in its entirety on “Dateline”, on the same station as the “Oggi” program, on Friday evening (17/6).
