After the death of actress Lolita Rodrigues, at the age of 94, actor Lima Duarte paid tribute to the artist in a video. “She was the only person older than me in this world of television. Today I am the older one. I was alone,” he said. The information comes from Newspaper.

The actress died in the early hours of this Sunday, 5, in João Pessoa, Paraíba. She had been living in the city since 2015 with her daughter. Lolita was admitted to Nossa Senhora das Neves hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia. She did not survive and died at 4:30 a.m., according to the hospital.

The connection between Lima Duarte and Lolita dates back to the beginnings of television in Brazil. Both were present at the first television broadcast in Brazil, created by Tupi, on September 18, 1950. They shared the stage with iconic figures such as Mazzaropi, Lia de Aguiar, Hebe Camargo, Vadeco, Ivon Cury, Wilma Bentivegna, Baltazar and George’s orchestra Henri.

In a video that lasted almost three minutes, Lima Duarte got emotional as she recalled the beginning of her friendship with Lolita. “She sang Spanish songs. I was the sound operator, I adjusted the microphone so she could sing. We became such good friends. Lolita, how I loved you.”

In addition to their off-screen complicity, Lima Duarte and Lolita also shared the stage in 1955 in Péricles Leal’s soap opera, entitled “Posto Avançado”. Duarte recalled the difficulties of that time, when everything was done live, without advanced equipment, relying only on his talent and connection. He misses the days when he was “a messenger and a scout in the jungle.”

Moved, the actor concluded the tribute with words of farewell and gratitude to his longtime friend: “Move on, as spiritualists say, it’s time, I’m going, I’ll find you soon. Rest in peace, Lolita.”
