Yesterday in Ascot, just 20 kilometers from London, the royal equestrian competition Royal Ascot started. For the British, this is one of the main social events of the summer, which, by the way, has a rather strict dress code, so guests prepare in advance, planning their looks and ordering hats from eminent masters. For many, this is an unprecedented opportunity to try on their best outfits. This year, the races will be held from June 14 to 18 and, as usual, will attract thousands of spectators.
For members of the royal family, this is no less a high-profile secular exit – they also carefully think through the images. The first day of the competition was attended by 33-year-old Princess Beatrice with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 73-year-old Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Anne and Countess Sophie of Wessex, as well as Mike and Zara Tindall.

Princess Beatrice and her husband came to the hippodrome to watch several races, dressed in summer “Turgenev” outfits. She opted for a tiered milky floral dress with a braided sash, a hat with a bright pink decorative flower and nude pumps, while her husband Edoardo wore a pink tie and a beige vest under a classic black tuxedo with a top hat to stay in the same color scheme with his beloved.

Prince Charles and the Countess of Cornwall arrived at the event in a landau, an open-top four-wheeled carriage. Camilla shone in an aquamarine Anna Valentine coat dress and a luxurious Philip Tracey hat with a decorative rose to match the outfit. The Countess completed the look with a multi-tiered pearl necklace and a massive brooch. Charles was also dressed for summer, in a light gray three-piece suit and a blue patterned tie.
Princess Anne arrived next, captured by photographers in a cream-colored tweed jacket with appliqués and an elegant mesh hat with an unusual cut.

Usually, the royal family appears at the races in full force, but every year it becomes more and more difficult for Elizabeth II to move around – now she regularly uses a cane – so she missed the opening of the competition, after making an official statement. By the way, 5 days before the event, the queen sent more than ten horses from her stable in Windsor to the races. Therefore, despite the fact that the queen was pretty tired of celebrating the 70th anniversary of her reign, her presence at the races during the week is still possible.
It is expected that in the coming days we will see more representatives of the royal family willing to show off elegant outfits.
