Current participant of BBB 24, MC Bin Laden has a lawsuit against the company EA Sports, creator of the “Fifa” game series, in which he requests R$120,000 for moral and material damages due to the unauthorized use of the choreography of his hit song “Tá Tranquil, Está Favorable” in the game .

The revelation of the trial came to light during an interview the singer gave in 2022 to the “g1 Ouvido” podcast. MC Bin Laden, who rose to fame in 2016 with the hit, shared at the time his attempt to retool his career and secure the rights he claims he didn’t receive, including the use of his choreography in the game .

The song “Tá Tranquil, Está Favorable” was one of the MC’s biggest hits eight years ago. The clip, which features MC Bin Laden’s choreography as he crosses his arms and performs the famous “Hang Loose sign”, mentioned in the lyrics itself, quickly became a phenomenon.

Dance was not only limited to the world of music, but also invaded football fields. At the time, several players, including Neymar, adopted choreography as a form of celebration in their matches.

In the lawsuit against the gaming company to which the Earth accessed, the Court of Justice of Sao Paulo (TJ-SP) reported that the case will now be analyzed by the Superior Court of Justice as there are more than a thousand lawsuits against EA Sports in Brazil, all related to the image rights of ex-footballers used by the club. The decision, based on the so-called “Topic 45”, aims to resolve trials in a uniform way and avoid conflicting decisions that could undermine legal certainty.

Topic 45 is a type of legal procedure called Incident Repetitive Demand Resolution (IRDR). It is a legal strategy to address a large number of similar lawsuits, in this case actions seeking compensation for the use of former players’ image rights in electronic games.

The decision implies the temporary suspension of all ongoing trials in the State of Sao Paulo relating to the use of former players’ image rights in electronic games. This will happen until there is a final decision on topic 45 by the Court of Justice, which will help guide ongoing cases.
