Model and actress Eloá Rodrigues, 29, is Miss Beleza T Brasil 2021 and represents Brazil at Miss International Queen 2022, considered the “Miss Universe” for trans women, to be held in Thailand. For the traditional parade of typical costumes of the competition, Eloá chose to honor Nossa Senhora Aparecida.

“The suspense is over: today I take the stage of Miss International Queen 2022, like my typical official costume, Nossa Senhora Aparecida. Patroness and protector of Brazil, Nossa Senhora Aparecida is kept in the shrine of Aparecida, in Sao Paulo, where it was built the largest Marian Shrine in the world “, he shared the model on Instagram.

The dress was made by the fashion designer Leonardo Oliveira, imitating the traditional blue cloak that covers the image of the Madonna. In the same post, Eloá also mentions that the cloak has the flags of Brazil and the Vatican, and that this is an indication that Brazil is “a Catholic country and under the protection of the Queen of Brazil”. Furthermore, the blue and gold colors “refer to royalty and indicate the saint’s sovereignty over heaven and earth”.

The official contest page posted a photo of Eloá wearing the costume, along with the other contestants. In the text of the publication, the organization of the competition highlighted that Nossa Senhora Aparecida is the patroness of Brazil and that she is “much sought after by the faithful who need help in a moment of anguish”, as well as telling a little of the story of the meeting of the image.
