Canadian actor Kenneth Mitchellremembered for his performances on “Star Trek: Discovery” and “Captain Marvel,” among others, died last Saturday, February 24.

The actor’s death occurred five years after his diagnosis Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis known as Lou Gehrig.
“It is with great regret that we announce the death of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, son and dear friend,” reads the message posted by his relatives.
Mitchell, who was 49, had a huge career in both film and television in which he played an Olympic hopeful, an apocalypse survivor, an astronaut, the father of Carol Danvers in Marvel’s “Captain Marvel.” 2019 and the unforgettable ‘Star Trek’.
His family remembered him as a dreamer, lover of the beach, canoeing, gardening and landscaping, music, cats, a sports geek, companion to Susan (wife and mother of his children) “and more than nothing, proud father” of Lila and Callum. He is also survived by his parents Diane and David.
” Ken was diligent and hardworking. in everything he did, but as a father these characteristics found their fullest expression. He was extremely dedicated to being a positive and fun force in his children’s lives. “He will always be proud of who his children have become,” his family’s message said.
He also points out that the actor, who He was diagnosed with the disease in 2018he was grateful “for the tremendous love and endless support he received from his community throughout this journey, for the resilience and strength shown by his extraordinary wife, family and friends.”
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a disease of the nervous system that affects the neurons of the brain and spinal cordwhich causes loss of muscle control and worsens over time.
It is called Lou Gehrig’s disease (1903-1941) after the Yankee baseball player who was diagnosed with it. The cause is not yet known, and in a small number of cases it is hereditary, according to data from the Mayo Clinic.
It is more common in men in which symptoms appear just before the age of 65, although there have been cases where it appeared between the ages of 20 and 30.
