‘Prince Harry is a feminist’: Meghan Markle on spouse, motherhood and new abortion law

______________________________

Like many American celebrities, 40-year-old Meghan Markle condemned the new law banning abortion in the United States – from June 24, each state has the opportunity to independently regulate the procedure at its discretion. Against the backdrop of a scandal that erupted in society, the Duchess gave Vogue a large frank interview in which she spoke about her own pregnancies and Prince Harry’s feminist moods.

Men should not be silent now or in the future, because these are decisions that affect relationships, families and society as a whole, she said.

Megan noted that her husband shares her sentiments. He cares about the fate of American women.

My husband and I have been talking about this a lot over the past few days. He is also a feminist. His reaction last week was the same as mine. I know that a lot of women are desperate right now. Again, we must unite. We must change something.

The Duchess, who is raising 3-year-old son Archie and 1-year-old daughter Lilibet with Prince Harry, noted the importance of an open dialogue on abortion and women’s health. She stressed that she understands what the expectant mother feels while carrying a child, but also noted that the decision to have an abortion is a personal matter for everyone.

I think about how lucky I am that I was able to give birth to both of my children,” she shared, “I know what it’s like to have a connection with what is growing inside you. What happens to our bodies is deeply personal and can lead to silence and stigmatization that can make it difficult for many of us to get medical care.

She also recalled an intimate and tragic moment in her life – after the birth of Archie, the royal couple was going to have a second child, but in 2020 Megan had a miscarriage. However, the Sussexes coped with the loss – as we know, a year later, baby Lilibet was born.

I know what a miscarriage is, and have already spoken about it publicly. We need to normalize conversations about things that affect our lives and bodies.

Recall that last Wednesday it became known the name of the director of the reality show about the life of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which they will launch as part of a deal with the streaming giant Netflix for $ 100 million. The provocative series will be directed by The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 director and Emmy nominee Liz Garbus. According to rumors, the Sussexes have already been allowed into the house of operators, and the reality show will be released along with the memoirs of Prince Harry, which are already causing concern at Buckingham Palace.
