For the first time in the history of MET Gala – which this year was characterized by glamorous looks -, a K-pop group was present with all the members at the event. Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin and INfrom the band Stray children, thrilled fans when they debuted on the red carpet of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York. But also the historical moment it was marked by racism and xenophobia.

Fans of the Korean band noticed the controversial phrases uttered by a group of photographers during the event and were outraged on social media. “Put the ball down, be gentlemen! I have never seen so many expressionless faces in my life,” one of them said, laughing. “How do you say ‘right’ in Korean? ‘Arigatô’ [palavra japonesa para ‘obrigado’]”, said the other, in a video published on the web.
Additionally, comments about the boys’ appearance, in addition to their clothing, were also identified. The paparazzi asked them to do “something really crazy” and mocked them when they took off their coats. “I have never seen so many emotionless faces in my entire life,” said another photographer. “You’re blocking people, you need to be on the same level,” said another, as the group ignored any offense and continued to walk the red carpet.
