The content creators attended an event at a circus in the western Ecuadorian city of Manda where they were shot, according to the national portal La Hora.

What happened to Cristian Nieto and Nicole Burgos?

According to Ecuavisa, the events were captured on video. At the beginning of this, they say, you can see how people lined up to enter the premises.

Cristian Nieto, who was also an alternate lawmaker, was at the entrance receiving attendees, including children, when the explosions began outside.

Because of the gunfire, people started running to try to find shelter. However, there were several injuries, including the official and his partner.

The Vistazo website detailed that Nicole Burgos, known on the net as “Soy Pipo,” was rushed to a hospital, where they unfortunately could not save her.

For his part, Nieto’s body would have been transferred, reports Extra.ec, to the Los Esteros clinic. Unknown if he was still alive.

Outside the hospital, Fabary Montalvo, police chief of the Manabí subzone, announced the deaths of the celebrities.

“The death of the individual is confirmed by multiple gunshot wounds,” it said, adding that Burgos “was shot in the head.”

Among those injured are journalist Josué Suárez, who broadcast “live” on the Internet when the attack began, and Cristhian’s bodyguard.

Why were Cristhian Nieto and Nicole Burgos murdered?

Regarding the first investigations into what happened, Fabary Montalvo announced that “it is a selective attack”, namely against Cristhian Nieto and Nicole Burgos.

“We have collected a total of twelve signs of a long weapon,” he explained, without going into further details of the case.

The National Police, for its part, reported that the killers abandoned and burned the vehicle they used to commit their crime at the Los Artesanos location in Montecristi.

Authorities have not determined whether the motive for the incident was to steal money from the coffers of the event, organized by Nieto to celebrate Children’s Day, which is celebrated in this country on June 1.
