51-year-old Queen Rania of Jordan announced the engagement of her eldest daughter Iman. A few minutes ago, Her Majesty posted the official portrait of the couple on her blog and wrote in English and Arabic:
Congratulations my dear Iman. Your smile has always been a gift of love that I have received from the moment you were born. I wish you and Jamil a life full of love and laughter!
And the official press service of the palace issued a release that reads:
The Royal Hashemite Palace is pleased to announce the engagement of Her Royal Highness Princess Iman bin Abdullah II and Mr. Jameel Alexander Thermiotis. It took place on Thursday in the presence of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, Crown Prince Hussein, Princess Salma, Prince Hashim and members of the Jamil family. The Palace congratulates the couple and wishes them happiness for life.
Little is known about the chosen one of the princess: the media write that Jamil is a financier from New York, and he does not belong to any noble family. The parents of the bride are clearly not embarrassed by this situation – King Abdullah himself married a simple Palestinian Rania.

25-year-old Iman has already received the popular nickname “copy of Queen Rania.” Indeed, the girl is very similar to her mother both in appearance and sense of style. There is, perhaps, only one difference so far – Iman does not seek publicity, rarely appears at official events and does not maintain accounts on social networks, like her parents and older brother, the heir to the throne.
An interesting fact is that Iman and her younger sister Salma were born on the same day, only she was born in 1996, and her sister in 2000. The parents decided to make September 27 the main day in their family and on this day to publish new family portraits, which in soulfulness can only be compared with the photos of the Cambridge ones.
In 2014, Her Highness graduated with honors from the prestigious The International Academy – Amman and was recognized as the best athlete of the school. She has a special relationship with sports: at the age of 12, she took part in equestrian competitions among participants from all over the Middle East and took second place. Iman has his own horse Shakir – an Arabian thoroughbred stallion. She graduated from Georgetown University in Washington DC.
