The country singer died this Thursday, 20. Christianformer member of the duo Cristiano and Ralph, 67 years old. The artist was admitted to the Samaritan Hospital in Sao Paulo. The cause of his death was not revealed.

In addition to the duo with Ralf, Chrystian is known for his marriage to Gretchen, the singer is first. The two married in 1981, when Gretchen was 22 and Chrystian 25. The relationship lasted a few months.

A year later, the artist married businessman Silva Neto, with whom she had her first child, Thammy Miranda. In total, Gretchen married 18 times, but the number is disputed. In 2017 she declared that she had married only once, but without saying to whom.

In 2020, after exchanging alliances with musician Esdras de Souza, she reflected on the criticism for her number of relationships. At the time, the artist shared a text in which she compared her to actress Elizabeth Taylor, who had eight husbands, “saying that Richard Burton played the same role, officially, twice.”

The death of Cristiano

The announcement of the singer’s death came on the same day that his advisor announced the cancellation of a show scheduled for the 22nd, in Franco da Rocha. In the official statement released this morning by the press office, the team maintained further details, but specified that Chrystian was recently diagnosed with a medical condition that required immediate rest and specialist care.

“His unmistakable voice and passion for music have brought joy and enthusiasm to fans across Brazil […] In this moment of profound pain we find comfort in the memories of the happy moments and in the songs he left us”, wrote the family in a death note published this evening on social media.

In February this year, Chrystian had already been admitted for a kidney transplant at Hospital do Rim. The organ was donated by his wife, Key Vieira, but the surgery was postponed until the end of the year due to the need for catheterization during preoperative examinations.

The singer was dedicating himself to a solo career. Chrystian’s duo with his brother Ralf released more than 20 albums and had success in the 80s and 90s, with songs like My Mona Lisa (track of a soap opera The king of cattle), Shampoo smell AND New York.
