The actress Gabriela Medeiros, who plays Buba in “Renascer”, has made very strong statements about the trans universe
This Friday (28/06) is LGBTQIAP+ Pride Day. In an interview with EXTRA, the actress Gabriela Medeiroswho plays Buba “Born again”made very strong statements about the trans universe.
Her character in the soap opera is also transsexual, and goes through very complicated moments in the plot: “This type of violence is more than real. It is latent. It is no coincidence that our country is the one that kills the most transgender people. Furthermore, the life expectancy of a trans person is 35 years. And we are still talking about a plot that is partly fiction.”
The actress said she often sees herself in Buba: “It’s not making fun of anyone. No trans person has to tell everyone they’re trans all the time. Cis people don’t go around saying, ‘Hey, it’s okay, I’m a cisgender, heteronormative person…’ So why do they constantly force it on us? I’m not making fun of anyone!
Make the difference!
“A lot of (trans girls) come and say, ‘Wow, I’m watching my life show on television.’ Or, ‘You helped my parents understand me.’ Or, ‘I’ve been through it, and seeing these scenes makes me happy. it hurts me a lot.’ She is a reflection of the trans community. She is a character that is not very popular among people, so it might be difficult to interpret everything that you are putting on ‘”he concluded.
