The former Miss Argentina becomes a yoga teacher in prison after a friend plots a murder

Paola Della Torre continues to defend her friend, even after the conviction; learn more

Paola Of The Tower, former Miss Argentinaleft the spotlight to live a quiet life in Miami, United States. In recent years, according to the newspaper The nationshe became a yoga teacher and, after her friend Michelle Troconis was convicted of covering up a murder, she began teaching in a women’s prison in Florida.

Living in the United States for over 10 years, Paola is a close friend of Venezuelan Michelle Troconis. The two met in 2012, when Michelle moved from Argentina to Miami. The two met for the first time at a children’s party and quickly became close. They also spent the holidays together, such as Christmas and New Year’s Eve. “Michelle and her daughter are like family to me,” the former Miss told the newspaper.

Michelle Troconis, however, was sentenced to 20 years in prison accused of conspiring and committing the murder of Jennifer Dulos-Faber, ex-wife of her then husband, Fotis Dulos. At the time of the crime, the businessman was named the main suspect in the crime, but he took his own life in mid-2020. As a result, Troconis was the only person tried for the girl’s death.

“Even though we met when we were older, it was like an instant crush, like when you meet a man who you know will be important in your life. When I saw her, I knew we would become friends. It was my daughter’s birthday, she was with her daughter and I was with mine, and we had a lot of fun. We quickly became a family, because when you are far away, your friends are the closest thing to us traveling together in Argentina,” Paola recalled.

With her inmate friend, la ex-miss was motivated to become a yoga instructor at a women’s prison. Michello Troconis’ husband, however, was never the Argentine beauty’s favorite. “He was never a saint of mine. I thought he was really cool, but I wasn’t supposed to like him. When Michelle moved with Dulos to Connecticut in 2018, I went to visit her and that’s when my perception of him changed a little: he was in the middle of a custody fight over his five children and I could tell he was very worried. He said his ex-wife was mentally ill and medicated the kids so they were asleep at 6 p.m.,” she stressed.

Paola believes that her friend was the “scapegoat” that the US justice system found to prevent the case from remaining unsolved. “They’re using Michelle. Dulos committed suicide and, instead of investigating whether there was anyone else who participated in the crime, they convicted her. Michelle has all the conditions to pay for something she didn’t do: she’s Latina, beautiful, a good person, everyone who knows her loves her, she’s proactive, smart, athletic, studied to help children with special needs, does everything well. At the last hearing they said: ‘Michelle wanted to take Jennifer’s place.’ she would be further from the truth.”

Paola acknowledges that, in mid-2019, Michelle even complained to her about the arguments between Dulos and his ex-wife. However, it wasn’t something that would hurt her so much that she would commit a crime. “All this injustice leaves me truly helpless.”
