Former colleagues and great Hollywood personalities have shared his regards, his condolences and his tributes to James Cannthe actor who died on Wednesday night at the age of 82.
Recognized for his legendary role as Sonny Corleone in the first two ‘The Godfather’ moviesCaan will also be remembered for other memorable characters in the films ‘Misery’, ‘El Dorado’, ‘Rollerball’, ‘A Bridge Too Far’, ‘Eraser’, ‘Mickey Blue Eyes’, ‘Elf’ and ‘Dogville’, as well from the series ‘Vegas’.
The actor’s family published confirmed his death with a tweet that said the following: “It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the night of July 6.. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and deepest condolences and asks that you continue to respect her privacy during this difficult time.”
“Jimmy was my fictional brother and lifelong friend.”, said the protagonist of ‘The Godfather’ Al Pacino, it’s a statement. “It’s hard to believe that he will no longer be in the world, because he was so alive and bold… A great actor, a brilliant director and my dearest friend. I’ll miss him”.
Robert De Niro added: “I am very, very saddened by the news of Jimmy’s passing.”.
Francis Ford Coppola added, stating, “Jimmy was someone who has been in my life longer and closer than any other movie figure I have ever met. From those early days working together on ‘It Rains on My Heart’ and throughout all the milestones of my life, his films and the great roles he played will never be forgotten. He will always be my old friend from Sunnyside, my collaborator and one of the funniest people I have ever met.”.
thalia shireactress of ‘The Godfather’ and the ‘Rocky’ saga, also wanted to remember her ex-partner: “James was a good man, a kind man, a family man and a tremendously talented man, whose great talent will always be loved and remembered.. My prayers go out to his family that he treasured so much.”
The director of ‘Thief’ Michael Mann issued a statement remarking “What a sad and tragic loss. Not only was Jimmy a great actor with total commitment and an entrepreneurial spirit, he had a vitality at the core of his being that fueled everything from his art and friendship to athletics and good times. I loved him and loved working with him.”
