TV star drowns after an accident in a river: still searching for her body

‘Top Chef Masters’ star Naomi Pomeroy died on Saturday afternoon, July 13, following a water accident.

According to Page Six, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office investigation details that the 49-year-old chef was tubing that day on the Williamette River in western Oregon.

Suddenly, they explain, the floats in which she, her husband, Kyle Linden, and a friend were riding “got tangled up in an exposed obstacle,” causing the three of them to fall.

“Naomi was dragged under the water and was unable to free herself due to the paddle board strap (which was attached to her),” police noted.

The local fire department managed to rescue Linden and her partner and brought them safely to shore, but they were unable to save Pomeroy and she drowned.

They’re looking for Naomi Pomeroy’s body

According to the New York Times, rescuers were able to locate Naomi Pomeroy’s body underwater. However, strong currents prevented them from retrieving it.

Agents then began searching for her “in the area using all available tools, including sonar, underwater cameras and drones.”

“But they were unable to find any sign of Naomi in the area due to the large amount of debris in the water,” authorities said.

Exploration work was halted at night when the light diminished and dive teams could no longer proceed.

However, efforts to recover the chef’s remains continue to this day, and the mission is reassessed daily.

“I am dedicated to locating Naomi to bring her home to her family and loved ones,” Sheriff Van Arsdall said Tuesday.
