At the moment, Silvio he joined the Liberal Front Party (PFL, now DEM) and later switched to the Brazilian Municipalist Party (PMN), which already had a candidate in the running, Armando Corrêa. The candidate had already been presented to the voters and his name was already on the ballots, which were printed at the time.

We must put the people and the development of Brazil on the line. Those who believe in me must vote on the 26th”, declared in the campaign.

Finally, the candidates for the office were not satisfied with Silvio’s good reputation and filed 18 requests to contest the candidacy. Therefore, with a unanimous decision, the TSE accepted the requests and concluded that the PMN party had not respected the electoral laws, preventing the candidacy of Silvio Santo.
