Kate Middleton is ‘cancer free’ after completing her treatment. “I can’t tell you how relieved I am to finally be done with my chemotherapy,” the Princess of Wales said in a video released by Kensington Palace on Monday.
Prince William’s wife, 42, shared that “the past 9 months have been incredibly difficult for us as a family,” as “the cancer journey is complicated, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.”
Kate Middleton revealed she had cancer in March this year, detailing that she was diagnosed following tests following abdominal surgery in January.
Kate Middleton will have a long road to recovery
The Princess of Wales said that she will now focus on “staying cancer free”, because although she has already completed the chemotherapy process, she will have a recovery process.
“My road to healing and full recovery is long and I have to continue to take each day as it comes,” she says in the clip, where she is seen with Prince William and his children, George, Charlotte and Louis, out for a walk .
Middleton is looking forward to “getting back to work and taking on some more public engagements in the coming months.” According to The Guardian newspaper, one of those engagements is likely to be supporting the Prince of Wales at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday in November and the carol service in December.
Kate Middleton thanks support and sends a message to cancer patients
Given the difficult situation she experienced, the princess was grateful for the expressions of support she received. “We have drawn so much strength from all those who are helping us right now. Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly touching.”
Finally, Kate Middleton sent an encouraging message to those who, like her, are facing cancer.
“To all those continuing their own journey against cancer: I stand with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness can come light, so let that light shine bright.”
