In an interview with Extra, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, said he had used the drug Ozempico lose weight. Running for re-election, Paes said he lost 30 kilos thanks to the drug, which has gained popularity among celebrities for its supposed slimming effect.
“I took a lot of Ozempic, that medicine that makes everyone lose weight. With Ozempic I lost 30 kilos”, declared the mayor.
Promise of distribution in SUS
Paes also announced an ambitious plan: to allow the distribution of the medicine in the public health network. According to him, with the opening of the patent for the Ozempico scheduled for 2026, the production of generic drugs will be possible, allowing the inclusion of the medicine in the Unified Health System (SUS).
“The patent will be open next year, he will be able to have the generic and I will put it on the entire public network. (…) Rio will be a city that will no longer have chubby people, everyone will take Ozempic in family clinics”, said the mayor.
