Tudum: Netflix announces a new fan event in September

A month after a Geeked Week with little repercussion, Netflix is already preparing another event for fans of its programming. This Thursday (7/14), the platform announced a new edition of Tudum for September 24.

Formerly called a festival, the promotional event will be virtual and free. Classified as “a celebration of Netflix’s global fandom,” it will bring content from over 100 productions to the platform, including series, films and specials. And instead of covering multiple days like Geeked Week, the fourth Tudum – or the second world Tudum – will host five global events on the same day.

It is worth remembering that the first edition of the event was in person and exclusively for Brazil. It took place in January 2020 at the Pavilhão da Bienal do Ibirapuera, with the participation of Lana Condor and Noah Centineo, and attracted 50,000 visitors. The second year took place virtually due to the pandemic, with a presentation by Maisa Silva.

It was such a success that Netflix adopted the name Tudum for its first global commercial last year, when it brought together more than 145 guest actors to talk about 70 exclusive titles from its streaming catalog.

The main novelty of this year’s Tudum is the change of structure, which will divide the contents by markets of four different continents, taking the public on a journey around the world. There will be, in all, five specific blocks, dedicated to productions from South Korea, India and Japan, a larger one that brings together productions from the United States and Europe, and another dedicated to the original titles from America. Latin, including the highlights of Brazil.

Each block will feature first-hand announcements, with unreleased images or trailers for upcoming releases, as well as feature production stars talking about their projects. The list of celebrities and promoted titles will only be published in early September.

Officially dubbed “Tudum: A World Event for Fans” in Portuguese, the promotional effort will be streamed worldwide on Netflix’s YouTube channels and social media.
