Orlando Mirandaactor, producer and theater director, has died at the age of 91. The information was confirmed by the Association of Theatrical Producers (APTR) who, as well as the Brazilian Society of Theatrical Authors (SBAT), released an official statement.
In the official note the company regrets the artist’s death, without revealing the causes. “Our deep gratitude. As a member of the management board and supporter of our conservation and restoration actions, your work has been essential to the continuity and strengthening of our mission”SBAT said.
And they completed: “With wisdom, generosity and courage, he helped pave the way during the years of maximum cultural repression in Brazil, being a skilled mediator and protector of artistic freedom.”
Even more, APTR highlighted the legacy of Orlando and provided support to the family: “Our thanks and all tributes to this icon who contributed to building the history of Brazilian theater and our feelings to Orlando’s family and friends. Our feelings to his family and friends, and all tributes to this great man of art.”
“SBAT offers solidarity to family, friends and the artistic community, which has lost one of its greatest references.
