Despite being the daughter of the famous Gilberto Gil, Preta Gil, who died last Sunday 20, at the age of 50, exceeded Perrelleggio and narrated one in his book.
In his autobiography “Preta Gil: The First 50”, published in 2024, the singer remembered a moment of his life with good humor that lived in the luxurious Hotel Copacabana Palace, in Rio.
At the time, Preta was married to the actor Otávio Müller, with whom he had his only son, Francisco, born in 1995. The couple had just moved from San Paolo to Rio and initially lived in a sublocated apartment by Otavio. A few months later, however, the owner requested the property and two turned without having any place to live.
“Since the piece he created had the support of the Copacabana Palace Hotel, we went to live there. Without a penny in our pockets and living in the World Cup!” Preta wrote. “We couldn’t have some water from the refrigerator, because we couldn’t pay, but we lived in the World Cup,” he added.
The couple was hosted for a few months in the iconic hotel until they moved to a small apartment in Gávea, a gift made by Gilberto Gil and the stepmother Flora, the singer’s wife since 1980.
End of marriage and friendship relationship

Preta Gil and Otávio Müller married between 1994 and 1995. In the book, he also speaks of the end of the relationship, which gave way to an affectionate and lasting bond of friendship.
“In this means, Octavius and I was becoming more and more friends and less husband and wife. Love has become. It turned into a beautiful friendship. But the marriage is over,” he wrote.
