Fred Savageactor remembered for starring in the series “The wonder years”, was fired from his position as director and producer of the new version of the series two months ago, after six women who were part of his work group accused him of alleged verbal harassment and sexual assault.
According to information gathered by The Hollywood Reporter, the alleged victims stated that the 46-year-old actor had “inappropriate behaviour” on set and explained that they encountered two sides of Savage.
On the one hand, “a charismatic, apparently supportive partner”; on the other hand, there was Fred “darker” which, according to the applicants, made them feel uncomfortable.
Fred Savage allegedly kissed an employee without her consent
One of the accusers recounted to The Hollywood Reporter the difficult moment she experienced when she was harassed by the actor in a bathroom, even saying he kissed her without her consent.
The woman explained that on one occasion some co-workers went out to have fun at a bar and at some point in the evening she went to the bathroom, when she left, Savage was waiting for her and pushed her against the wall “with dead eyes and he put his mouth on mine very hard” and he tried to overdo it but he stopped him and left the place. According to the woman, a few minutes later the actor sent her a text message apologizing for his attitude.
Another of the alleged victims explained that they decided to speak out because one of his younger teammates moved into the famous man’s house and would manipulate her. In addition, it mentions that Fred is married and has three children.
Fred Savage denies the allegations
After the confrontation, the star of ‘The wonder years’ issued a statement in which he categorically denies the accusations of his companions.
“Since I was 6 years old, I have tried to contribute to an inclusive, safe and supportive work environment. It is devastating to know that there are colleagues who believe that I have not achieved these goals. Some refer Incidents That Absolutely Didn’t Happen nor could they have happened,” The Hollywood Reporter said in the statement.
The “Killing Jealousy” actor assured that he always wanted to be a good person and that he will work “to change any behavior that has negatively affected someone.”
Fred Savage had already been accused of molestation
In 1993 a costume designer from “The wonder years” sued him along with Jason Hervey for physical and verbal harassment, at that time the actor was 16 years old.
In 2018, designer Yoounjo Hwang sued him for allegedly causing an “extremely hostile work environment” by being aggressive towards female employees on the set of “The Grinder,” but no evidence was found against him.
