Metallica frontman James Hetfield files for divorce after 25 years of marriage

James Hetfield, one of the greatest guitarists of all time according to Rolling Stone magazine and the leader of Metallica, celebrated his 59th birthday in early August in an unexpected status for many – a man free for a new relationship. As it turned out, the musician filed for divorce at the beginning of the year with his wife Francesca, with whom he had lived for the past 25 years.

The break, which the couple hid from the public for almost half a year, became known thanks to TMZ insiders close to the situation. They also report that the spouses have maintained a good relationship and still communicate only because they have three common children.

Fraceska, 52, was the only wife of James Hetfield. The musician met the blue-eyed blonde in 1993 thanks to his band – Francesca was a dresser in Metallica for several years. When she joined the team, she was only 23 years old, and James was already 30. It took four years for the lovers to understand: this is not just an office romance. On August 17, 1999, they got married. And a year later, the couple had their first child – daughter of Kali Tee Hatfield. She is now 24 years old. The couple’s middle son, Castor Virgil, is 22, and their youngest daughter, Marcella Francesca, is 20.

In numerous interviews, James spoke about his wife only in a positive way. In particular, thanked Francesca for helping him during difficult times when he had problems with anger control. What caused the breakup remains unknown.
