The rapper Oruamson of a known drug dealer Marcinho vice presidentused his social networks to protest against the mega police operation launched on the morning of Tuesday 28th in Rio de Janeiro. The action, which aimed to dismantle the Comando Vermelho, one of the state’s largest criminal groups, resulted in the deaths of around 64 officers, including four police officers. The artist classified the operation as “the largest massacre in the history of Rio de Janeiro”.
On his Instagram profile, Oruam shared a message in which he laments the suffering of families affected by police violence. “My soul bleeds when the favela cries because the favela has a family. If you take the rifle out of your hands, there is a human being,” he wrote, underscoring the human dimension of what he sees as disproportionate police action.
In addition to the deaths, according to official information the operation led to the arrest of 81 people and the seizure of 75 rifles. Public security experts and human rights organizations classify the action as extremely violent and warn that the use of lethal force in favelas can generate cycles of revenge and intensify conflict between communities and police.

Oruam, who was previously involved in the Red Command and served time in prison, is a controversial figure, but his public position reflects the tension between the right to security and the preservation of life in peripheral communities. In previous interviews and publications he has taken a stand against the excessive use of force and denounced that many young people are victims of security policies that favor armed conflict to the detriment of social solutions.
