Actress and director Olivia Wilde (“Outstanding”) has denied the story of leaving actor Jason Sudeikis (“Ted Lasso”), with whom she had a long-term relationship, to be with singer Harry Styles.

“The idea that I left Jason to be with Harry is completely wrong,” he said in an interview for the cover of Vanity Fair. “Our relationship ended long before I met Harry.”

Wilde also said that the relationship went on for a long time, until the very end. “Like any relationship that ends, it doesn’t end overnight,” she said.

“Unfortunately Jason and I took a very difficult path and officially broke up the relationship at the beginning of the pandemic,” he continued, also explaining that the two shared responsibilities as parents during this period.

“When it became clear that living together was no longer beneficial to children, living apart became the responsible thing, because we could be better parents if we were friends living in different homes.”

However, this suggested “friendship” did not happen and the couple are currently embroiled in a custody battle for their two children, Daisy, five, and Otis, eight.

However, Wilde said the children understand the situation. “They understand the concept of making decisions to protect themselves and live an authentic and happy life. They really do,” she explained.

The lawsuit produced at least one awkward moment when custody papers were handed to Wilde as he was on stage at CinemaCon in April to unveil his new directorial film, “Don’t Worry, Honey,” with Styles.

The actress and director accused Sudeikis of “professionally embarrassing me” and said her method of delivering roles was “aggressive”.

Sudeikis, for his part, said he did not know the documents would be delivered that way. The idea was that the documents would be delivered to the airport or hotel where he was staying.

“I understand that the person just did their job; however, I deeply regret what happened,” he said when asked about the case. “Olivia’s speech was an important event for her, both professionally and personally, and I am very sorry that the incident ruined her special moment.”

But, according to Wilde, this type of behavior was not uncommon for the Sudeiki. “A lot of people were shocked by me. Unfortunately, I wasn’t that shocked,” she added. “There’s a reason I didn’t stay in this relationship. Unfortunately, it was consistent with my experience of the relationship.”

Speaking about her relationship with Styles, Wilde said people’s reactions have been pretty extreme.

“I’ve seen women judge me for separating me from Jason. There are people who feel empowered to hurl hideous insults at me and my family. They say I’m a terrible mother. They threaten me and my children or say I must lose my children. ” she said.

Wilde cites the case of presenter Wendy Williams, who in 2021 said on her talk show that Wilde was throwing away her children and boyfriend. “She broke my heart, not because I care deeply about Wendy Williams’ opinion, but because the applause from the audience made me sick.”

“I kept thinking, ‘Why are these women finding pleasure right now? Is it because it somehow makes them feel better about their lives, their judgments and their choices without ever wondering why I made my choices?'”, has continued.

Despite all the problems, Wilde says she is coming out of this situation stronger. “I have evolved a lot between the ages of 27 and 35. I found myself as a director. And I think I found myself as an individual,” she said. “And sometimes, when you evolve, you evolve from relationships based on an earlier version of yourself.”

In addition to Styles, the cast of “Don’t Worry, Honey” also includes Chris Pine (“Wonder Woman”), Gemma Chan (“Eternals”), Kiki Layne (“A Prince in New York 2”) and herself. Olivia Wilde. The premiere in Brazil is scheduled for 22 September.
