Globo ignores homophobia and decides to keep Cassia Kis in “Travessia”

Despite all the controversy, Rede Globo gave the hammer and decided not to fire actress Cassia Kis from the soap opera ‘Travessia’. The broadcaster must hold him until the end of the Gloria Perez storyline and settle the matter with the end of his stake in the broadcaster.

According to sources, the situation was discussed between the directors José Luiz Villamarim (from “Redemoinho”) and Ricardo Waddington (from “Caldeirão com Mion”) who, despite Cassia’s homophobic comments, understood that the sudden departure of the interpreter de Cidália could be detrimental to the telenovela storyline and to the station itself.

Globo’s top management stated that they cannot control the political demonstrations of the contractors, even more so if the declarations take place outside the workplace.

The executives add that, without a contract with the network, Cassia may feel “free” to give more controversial interviews. In addition, the actress is always on time and has not disturbed the recording schedule of “Travessia” so far.

Despite this, several colleagues have sent complaints against her behavior to Globo’s compliance department and she herself has sued network actors for “moral harassment”.

Cassia Kiss became the muse of Bolsonarists after making homophobic statements in a live broadcast with journalist Leda Nagle in October, which is why she was also sued by other Globo actors, such as actor José de Abreu.

She is also criticized for participating in anti-democratic demonstrations in Rio de Janeiro against the result of the 2022 presidential election.

Faced with this situation, it is unclear what will be the fate of the Globoplay series “Desalma”, which includes Cassia Kis in its cast.
