Angelina Jolie closes women’s charity

Angelina Jolie, who provides humanitarian assistance to people around the world, has closed her charitable foundation to support women affected by violence. She founded the organization in 2015 together with former British Foreign Secretary William Hague.

According to the Daily Mail, during the existence of the charitable foundation, Jolie invested about 1.7 million pounds (about 146 million rubles) in it. The actress decided to close the organization due to financial difficulties. At the moment, only 53 thousand pounds are left in her account. In addition, the company owes creditors another 1.5 thousand pounds.

Fans of the actress wondered why she did not invest personal funds in the fund, as she had done before. Most likely, the reason was the litigation by Brad Pitt. The star has been suing her ex-husband for several years and spends fabulous sums on lawyers, so she has nothing extra.

Angelina Jolie has always been considered one of the noblest actresses in Hollywood. She tried to use her popularity for the good of the world. Back in the early 2000s, the star began to cooperate with the UN. Together with volunteers, the actress traveled to third world countries, fought for the construction of hospitals and schools, and donated large sums to help refugees.

It was during these trips that the Oscar winner made the decision to adopt three children: Maddox from Cambodia, Zahara from Ethiopia and Pax from Vietnam, who recently made his debut as an artist. In December, Jolie stepped down as UN Special Envoy for Refugees, which she had held since 2012. The actress assures that she will continue to help those in need, but from now on she plans to “deal with a wider range of humanitarian issues and topics related to human rights.”
