Former BBB and digital influencer is one of the ambassadors of Veganuary, a movement that also features singer Billie Eilish
What Hana Khalil26 years old, and Billie EilishDo they have in common? Both are ambassadors of vegan de 2023. The British NGO works as a project to support and encourage veganism, which operates on different fronts and platforms, providing the necessary support for more people to experience the lifestyle in a simple, accessible and palate-free way.
In 2022 alone, 630,000 people signed up for the vegan. Adding up all the editions since 2014, the year it was launched, more than 2 million people have received free help to learn about and experience veganism. Before Hana Khalil And Billie Eilishthe platform has had great names in activism and culture as ambassadors, such as Paul McCartney, Joaquin Phoenix, Alicia Silverstone, Xuxa Menegel and Luisa Mel.
With the post, Hana Khalil says she doesn’t intend to focus only on encouraging veganism, but is thinking about demystifying and breaking the bubbles of vegans and vegetarians who see the act of not eating meat as just a habit.
“Being vegan is more than a diet, it’s a movement politic. It’s okay that you start out wanting to avoid animal abuse, whether for environmental reasons or for your own health, but what I see is many fans stopping at that thought,” assesses the influencer and former participant of the Big Brother Brazil.
For Hana it is necessary to question the industry, the agricultural bank and how the sectors treat livestock as if it were not harmful.
“If everything continues like this – and I believe it is irreversible – we will not be here to see the end of the world,” he says, referring to global warming and the life span of planet Earth.
“I became vegan because I couldn’t live with the hypocrisy of being a carnist.”
Started early in veganism
In adolescence, Hana Khalil videos found on Youtube of a vegan activist and became interested in the subject, he watched documentaries and read books, such as ‘Eating Without Meat’, by Eric Slywitch, to inform himself. The main criticism of him at the time was in line with a slogan of the vegan movement: “If you love some animals, why eat others?”.

“People literally don’t stop to think about what they’re putting into their bodies. veganism is political. In addition to involving causes, it is about what we are eating and what we allow from our food. I don’t blame the local fisherman or farmer, who hunt and plant to survive, but the big industries that treat food as an unstoppable and increasingly harmful business for us, ”she assesses.
Before she stopped consuming any animal products, Hana started with vegetarianism, a common step in this behavior shift. In this process, the biggest difficulty she encountered, as she says, was preparing her own food. While her parents accepted that she was adept at this lifestyle, they weren’t willing to finance a different diet.
Despite this domestic impasse, accentuated by her inability to cook, Hana doesn’t hesitate to say that the greatest difficulties she faces as a vegan are prejudices and social pressure.
“It’s about social pressure, that person, friend or family member, who makes you eat meat without you knowing it, who makes jokes and comments like, ‘Oh, I couldn’t live without coxinha. My God, how can you do without sushi ?”

The influencer rejects the verdict, although he has started vegetarianism without medical supervision. Regular consultations with a nutritionist began in 2021 when she was diagnosed with endometriosis. Even at the scene, she Hana says she fought hard with the medical team, as she did not agree to eat eggs or meat.
“They said I wouldn’t be able to bear it, that I would die if I didn’t eat the eggs, which doesn’t make any sense. Eggs are even bad for our health. A top hospital that served the best meat, cheeses different, not having vegan options? I lacked anti-inflammatory foods, I lacked hospitality, a carrot, a cabbage in my diet, you know? In the end, I didn’t eat and I survived,” he points out.
In addition to being an ambassador for vegancurrently Hana Khalil she’s a strong influencer within the cause, she’s even written a book on accessible vegan cooking, the ‘Khosmic food‘. Hana also hosts the videocast Subverse laboratory.
