One year after talking about the diagnosis, the presenter reiterates the importance of taking children to the ophthalmologist and comments on the Lua treatment
A year after making her daughter’s cancer diagnosis public, the presenter James Leifert used the stories of InstagramSunday 29, to reiterate the importance of taking children to the ophthalmologist and told how the treatment of 2-year-old Lua is going.
“It’s been a year since Dai and I posted that video discussing our daughter, Lua’s cancer treatment. And our goal was for parents to be able to seek help and diagnose their children before us,” Leifert began.
“And it worked. In the last year, several children who have retinoblastoma have managed to go to the doctor earlier, thanks to the signs we talked about in the video. […] And we would like it to continue to work. So stay tuned. And the message that I would like to reinforce today, one year later, is having an ophthalmologist in children’s lives. It’s very important to take your child to the eye doctor every six months,” she added.
The presenter also said that her daughter is still being treated for cancer and that no discharge is expected. “Lua enters the 16th month of treatment. Cancer treatment is just like that. She is long, it is difficult. She has ups and downs, so, still without forecast, she will continue to heal. We still have a lot to do.”

“Early October last year we found out that our daughter Lua has cancer. She has a very rare type of eye cancer, retinoblastoma, which is cancer that develops in the cells of the retina. and end up forming tumors, which can be in only one eye, or as in the case of our daughter, bilateral. She has a tumor in each eye,” Daiana said at the time.
