Other Brazilian artists have also made history at the biggest music award

Astrud Gilberto
The first Brazilian woman to be nominated for a Grammy. Like Anitta, she competed for the “Revelation Artist” award. However, what she took home was “Best Female Pop Performance”, with the English version of “The Girl from Ipanema”.
Joao Gilberto
In 1965, the singer competed for the prize for “Best Male Pop Performance” and “Album of the Year” – which guaranteed the artist a golden gramophone.
Tom Jobim
Also in 1965, Tom Jobim lost the “Revelation Artist” award to none other than the Beatles. However, luck came the following year, when he won the Grammy for “Best Latin Jazz Album”.
Eumir Deodatus
Ten years after Jobim’s victory, the pianist won the “Best Pop Instrumental Performance” award. The following year he ended up being nominated again, but this time as “Revelation Artist”. However, he didn’t win the award.
Morris Alberto
In 1976, Morris was nominated for the same award as Anitta, for “Revelation Artist”. However, he didn’t take home the golden gramophone.
Robert Charles
Almost ten years later, Roberto Carlos was nominated for the “Best Mexican-American Performance” award, for his Spanish version of the song “O Concavo eo Convexo”. However, he only won the award in 1989, in the same category, which was now called “Best Latin Pop Performance”.
Sergio Mendes
In 1993, the artist won the Golden Gramophone in the category “Best Global Music Album”.
Milton Nascimento
The year was 1995 and Milton Nascimento was nominated for the “Best Global Music Album” category. Victory will come only in 1998, in the same category, but this time with the album “Nascimento”.
Caetano Veloso

Gilberto Gil
