Look of the day: Elizabeth Hurley at a breast cancer benefit

_________________________________

The Glasshous New York City hosted the annual BCRF Hot Pink Party funded by the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Thanks to donations, the evening hosted by Elizabeth Hurley raised a record $8.5 million. At the reception, the 56-year-old actress, who has been Estée Lauder’s global ambassador for the campaign against breast cancer for many years, came in a long bodycon dress embroidered with pink sequins. The symbol of the fight against breast cancer – a pink ribbon – is made in the same color. She completed the look with large earrings with pink stones, platform sandals and a tiny clutch to match the outfit.

Among the guests of the event were doctors, scientists and celebrities: Vera Wang, Nina Garcia, Zac Posen, Radhika Jones, Jill Kargman, Lois Robbins, Emma Miles, Jenna Lee Green, Lydia Fenet, Ingrid Vandebosch and Jeff Gordon and others.

Hurley has been actively involved in raising awareness of breast cancer and raising funds for its study and treatment since the death of her grandmother, who struggled with this disease. Speaking at the evening, she said that the funding of research institutes has helped to significantly reduce the mortality of patients with breast cancer:

I really hope that everyone who has ever helped the Foundation understands how much their generosity means to the world. Scientists have made significant progress, and since the 80s, the mortality rate of women with this diagnosis has decreased by 42%. But I also hope they remember that one in eight women on the planet is diagnosed with breast cancer and the fight is not over. We hope that you will not lose the desire to continue to help!

She also added that her only son Damian knows everything about this disease and was very interested in this topic as a child:

To be honest, it has been a part of Damian’s life ever since he learned to walk and talk. He knows that October is the month of the fight against breast cancer (it was announced by WHO in 1993 and is timed to coincide with October 15, when World Breast Cancer Day is celebrated – ed.). He knows what a pink ribbon is from the age of two.

Also during the evening in a conversation with a reporter from the American HELLO! The actress said that it allows her to feel confident:

I really think taking the time to take care of your health is one of the most important things we can do for ourselves. Women should know their body, know their breasts, feel if something is wrong with it. You need to be in harmony with your body, take care of yourself in order to be near and take care of loved ones.
