And a breakfast with mouth-watering, delicious options can literally change your day. Rio de Janeiro is one of those places that offers breakfasts for all tastes, budgets and styles.

If you want a coffee with a good view, then the arp bar, in Arpoador, is the place for you. The most popular tables are those overlooking the sea and the Dois Irmãos hill. At breakfast – served until 12:00 – the stars are the breakfast combinations, in the normal version, with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice of the day, bread, cheese, ham, eggs, fruit, muesli, jam and other grocery shop of the day. There is also a vegan version, which has, in addition to the above drinks, hummus, chestnuts, creamy eggplant, mushrooms, vegetables, fruit, coconut yogurt, muesli, molasses and biscuits. The value of both is R$86 per person with substitution if requested by everyone at the table. Fasano Coffee
Recently opened, the new cafeteria of the Fasano hotel, located on the iconic Ipanema beach, is now also open to non-stayers. In addition to bread, the buffet bar menu includes yoghurt, fruit and cakes and novelties such as ‘cruffin’, a mix of croissants and muffins, bostok, a type of French toast brioche with almonds and donut, a type of Italian dream filled with custard, Sicilian lemon zest and vanilla. There’s also the option to order à la carte items, such as waffles, pancakes, stuffed tapioca, sandwiches, and several versions of eggs — from scrambled to fried with bacon, including Benedictines with salmon. Fruit juice, green juice, coconut water, coffee, tea, sparkling wine and water complete the drinks menu. The cost is BRL 146 including the full buffet, served as many times as desired, plus an a la carte option.

Talho Capixaba
Also in the Ipanema neighborhood, Talho Capixaba is already a classic. With tables arranged on the sidewalk, the Ipanema unit offers breakfast combos such as the Talho da Fazenda (R $ 119): artisan bread, two slices of 9 cereals, honey, jam, butter, Minas cheese, real ham, scrambled egg , portion of papaya, cake of the day, two hot drinks (coffee with milk, cappuccino, hot chocolate or coffee), two different juices. Slow pastry
With a seasonal menu, The Slow Bakery, in the Jardim Botânico, uses organic and fresh products in its preparations. From jams to pickles and yoghurts, everything is homemade, nothing is industrialised. The breads served are naturally fermented, made with Italian and Brazilian flours and take an average of 30 hours to be ready. Among the breakfast options, canapés, sandwiches (or pressed), salads and juices. The strong point also goes to the coffees, with various preparation methods, freshly ground and arriving in the pastry shop with just a few days of roasting.

Located in Casa da Glória, a mansion from the colonial period, renovated and reopened in late 2019. Brunch is a hit on weekends and holidays and can be enjoyed in the shade of the trees or inside the house. Among the combinations, Embaúba with bread basket, house jam, three types of cheese (Canastra, Minas and flat), turkey breast, ham, scrambled eggs, yoghurt, fruit salad, juice of the day and coffee or tea (R$ 110 and serves two people). Also on the brunch menu, Croque Monsieur (R$35), Eggs Benedict (R$35), waffles and tapioca, among other delicacies. Outside of this menu, there is also the Brazilian Cheese Board, with Lua Cheia, Vaca Massa Mole, Tulha, Vaca Massa Dura, Chabichou, Goat, Pardinho Custa Azul, Vaca Curado (R$44).
