Many shows out there? 4 tips to avoid getting into debt when buying a ticket

In 2023 we will do many more shows in Brazil as well. And didn’t they create a “Stop Coming to Brazil” movement? So it is! Many fans ask (as a joke) that the artists stop coming to Brazil, since they have no more money to buy tickets.

By the way, credit analysis firm Serasa joined in on the fun, publishing: “I ask you to stop sending ‘Come to Brazil’ to international artists.”

And of course, it’s all just a big joke. However, it is a fact that we must be careful not to spend more than we have on concert tickets. Nobody wants to be in debt, right?

According to the Consumer Indebtedness and Default Survey, 77.9% of the population was in debt in 2022. And one of the culprits has a name: the credit card, which caused about 86.6% of the debts.

That’s why, to help you avoid falling into that statistic, Serasa’s manager, Clara Aguiar, has given us some tips to not get into debt with this wave of super-pumped concerts and festivals here in Brazil. Watch:

have financial planning

Knowing how much you will earn and how much you will spend each month is essential. This way you can calculate how much you can spend on the ticket. By the way, this is also great if you have to travel to the venue, which would involve expenses like tickets and accommodation.

buy on impulse

Do not get carried away by super colorful ads and the feeling of FOMO – the famous “Fear of getting lost” (fear of being left out, in free translation). Before buying the ticket, think about whether you really need to go to the show and, of course, whether your finances allow you to comfortably buy the ticket.

half price

If you can, buy half price! If you are a student, senior citizen, or person with a disability, you are eligible for this benefit. However, it’s always good to confirm in advance what documents you need to prove this benefit, such as a card or your identity.

Buy in advance

Always try to buy your ticket as early as possible. That is, right on the first batch. In addition to saving you some money, since it will be cheaper, it helps you get organized. And, of course, it saves you the jitters of looking for a ticket at the last minute.

Beware of the ticket scam!

Now, real caveat: when buying tickets online, be very careful that you don’t end up buying a fake ticket. To help you not fall for these scams, Serasa has separated a few things you should pay attention to:

  • Pay attention to details such as the typography, colors and sizes of the graphics that make up the card;
  • Buy the ticket only through the official website of the event;
  • Check if the site has the security certificate, represented by a padlock icon, next to the address in the navigation bar;
  • If you intend to buy a ticket from a third party, make sure you are a known person with references;
  • If the ticket offer is less than the amount paid by the seller, be wary;
  • Request a ticket transfer through the event website. On most official sites, those who buy the ticket can transfer it to another name, but the operation must be carried out before downloading,
  • Asking for information that goes beyond the purpose of purchasing the ticket can also be an attempt to scam.
