In an interview with Rolling Stone, Ed admitted that he began to feel uncomfortable with his image after collaborating with the Canadian singer and Shawn Mendes. According to him, the artist’s “fit and toned” figure made him “madly uncomfortable”. This led to him compulsive eating, until he vomited all over.
She also confessed to being a “compulsive person about everything,” and reflected on her eating disorder which lasted for many years. The singer stressed that now his goal is to have a compulsion to exercise.
What is an Eating Disorder?
Eating disorders or disorders are eating disorders. They are characterized by changes in the way of eating, which normally occur due to a Excessive concern about body weight and appearance – which can be the result of comparisons, for example. Therefore, it is possible that the person goes several hours without eating, makes frequent use of laxatives and avoids going out to eat in public places, for example.
Eating disorders can have serious health consequences, such as kidney and heart problems and even death. This is because there can be a deficiency or an excess of nutrients, depending on the eating disorder, which interferes with the functioning of some organs.
“In general, eating disorders appear more frequently in women, especially during adolescence. They are usually linked to problems such as poor acceptance of one’s body, low self-esteem, anxiety and depression”, clarifies the nutritionist Dr. Marianna Magri.
There are different types of eating disorders, but the three most common are: anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder, points out the expert. “90% of eating disorder diagnoses fall into these three cases.” integrates Marianna.
bulimia
Bulimia, a disorder described by Ed Sheeran, is characterized by frequent episodes of binge eating, in which there is the consumption of large quantities of food, followed by compensatory behaviors. For example, forcing yourself to vomit, using laxatives or diuretics, not eating, and exercising excessively to try to control your weight.
The main symptoms of bulimia are chronic inflammation of the throat, gastric reflux, tooth decay and tooth sensitivity. In addition, exercising a lot, eating large quantities on the sly, suffering from dehydration and experiencing gastrointestinal problems are also some warning signs.
The main feature of binge eating is frequent episodes of overeating, even when not hungry, or excessive intake of high-calorie foods. There is a loss of control over what one eats, but there are no compensatory behaviors such as vomiting or laxative use.
Some of the main symptoms of cravings are overeating even without hunger, difficulty stopping eating, eating too fast, being overweight, and eating strange foods, such as uncooked rice or frozen beans, for example.
